Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
tenant/landlord
Hi, a tenant skipped out on 2 months
rent. From what I understand, he has
since relocated to NY, the apartment was in NJ. Do I need o go to a Jersey court to try and get my money?

Re: tenant/landlord
You can sue either in NY or NJ but, in this case, you will probably have more success suing in the State in which the defendant resides. That is because he probably has his job and other assets in NY and it will be easier to collect a judment there.
