told landlord need repairs done now wants to raise rent

I am a tenant who is disabled I spoke to my landlord a few months ago about some things that needed to be repaired and it never got done so I wrote a letter of what needed to be repaired and she got mad and now wants to raise my rent. The repairs that I need done are safety hazards. What can I do?

I assume that you have a lease. You should notify your landlady in writing of the safety defects. Be specific as to what needs to be done and why each is a safetly problem. In the same letter, tell her that if she does not fix them or make reasonable arrangements to fix them, you will withhold enough rent to pay for the repairs yourself. You can do that and a court should support you.

As to the rent increase, if you have a lease, the rent is as stated in the lease.
