Re: Choosing an Legal Malpratice Attorney

This is an interesting question. In chosing a malpractice attorney you must chose someone who not only practices in the area of malpractice BUT ALSO is intimately familiar with the type of case that is underlying. For example, if the alleged malpractice involves a personal injury case, then the lawyer should either be a PI lawyer or at least someone very familiar; the same if it involved a real estate lawyer. The primary reason is that malpractice typically involves the "case within the case" where the person brining the action must prove that not only did malpractice occur, but also that had it not occured then the result in the underlying matter would have resulted in a different result.

There are numerous other factors to consider such as a willingness to pursue other lawyers, lack of malpractice claims themselves, resources, experience and legal knowledge in general. If you have a specific case, please feel free to contact me at 800-34 NJ LAW or my e-mail. Best wishes.
