Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New Jersey
death from sepsis
Father died in May of 2006, as a result of sepsis contracted when given dialisis in Union Hospital (in the groin area). Because of a Miositis (weakening of the muscles) he was unable to fight the infection. Do I or don't I a have a case? And who?

Re: death from sepsis
NO ONE can answer that question as posed. How old was he? what other problems did he have? Was the infection one of the known possible side effects? - There are literally dozens of other questions that must be posed. Just because someone dies, does not mean anyone did anything wrong. Your father was on dialysis, so his health was already compromised, which makes the likelihood that there was malpractice less likely (but not impossible). To sue and be right AND win, there must have to be a deviation from the standard of care, and a lawyer can not answer that, only a doctor can. You have to go to an attorney and ask if they will help you evaluate the circumstances in your father's death.
