Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New Jersey

we are in the process of a malpractice law suit and have a court date in february, we are we going to a settlement hearing i thought doctors were no longer allowed to settle so what is the purpose

To settle your case. Be optimistic! :) While these conferences are pro forma and some doctors do not settle, the vast majority do settle and many settle at these so called settlement conferences.
