Aside from showing that the hospital and staff did not perform within community norms, you would have to show proximate cause...that first hospital's negligence was what caused your arm from being harmed i.e. if even if first hospital acted properly, and arm would have been harmed in same way and to same extent, then there is no case against first hospital. Thank you for your inquiry with regard to a potential medical negligence claim. If your compartment syndrome developed over the 3 days you were at St. Claires, and the trauma to your arm remained untreated during that time, you may have a viable claim if the compartment syndrome and other conditions left you with any residual permanent impairment (as opposed to loss of function from the initial injury). Please access my firm's contact information available on this site; and feel free to call me or any of my partners at Blume Goldfaden to discuss your potential claim.
