Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New Jersey

Not properly watching a one-on-one patient just released from ICU

I am really hoping you can help me. My father recently had major heart surgery 7.5 hours, he is 70 years old and was in ICU for approx 25 days. He was then put into semi-icu for 3 days, and is now directly infront of the nurses station for his protection of hurting himself with a one-on=one nurse. Since his surgery, he has been disoriented and has been on medication for it. We called him, and he was very upset. It ended up he wasn't being watched and fell out of his chair trying to get back into bed. What are our rights.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your father. I am an attorney in Cherry Hill who handles these types of cases.

Based on the facts you've entered, it sounds like there may be the potential for a malpractice claim, however, a lot will depend on what happened when he fell. You can read more about what attorneys look for in a medical malpractice case at my website: www.njlawpages.com/pages/mm.htm

Even if there is not enough to pursue a lawsuit, I can provide you with the contact information for the boards that license/regulate doctors/nurses/hospitals so that you can report the problems with your father's care. While this would not result in any financial compensation, it may help to prevent future incidents like this.

I offer free consultations and would be happy to discuss the details of your case with you. Feel free to contact me at your convenience.
