My son recently enlited in the US NAvy it has not benn 90 days and he isn't set to leave for boot camp until May. He is having second thoughts about the branch he is enlisted in and would now prefer inlisting in the US AIRFORCE for college reasons. Is there a way he can change his decision to join the US Navy and switch to the US AIRFORCE?

He can get out pretty easily since he hasn't shipped yet for boot camp (he is in either the DEP or DTP), but before he does that he should talk the Air Force recruiter to make sure that an uncharacterized entry level separation won't cause him problems from enlisting in the USAF.

If his main concern is paying for college though, he should rethink enlisting at all. Federal financial aid can often pay the entire cost (especially if he is going to public college).

Enlisting in the military is a serious commitment, especially during the current wartime situation. He shouldn't do it unless he is 100% ok and ready to be deployed. (and if his recruiter downplays this, he should ask what else is the recruiter not telling the truth about)
