Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

assault

Jake ( age 48) was playing rec soccer. He went after a ball and so did Raf(42). Raf tripped and Jake was charged with a 'hard foul' and given a 'yellow card'. As Jake walked away, Raf ran up6 yds, punched Jake & knocked him unconscious &. broke his jaw. Raf immmediately left town & was arrested the next week. Jake thinks Raf should pay the medical bills & his loss of work. Raf works for B of A, Jake owns his own business, (sales). The police say the grand jury will hear the case tomorrow. Jake has spoken to 2 lawyers who want to know what assets Raf has before taking the case. What does Jake need to do next?

Re: assault

As you can see so far, it is tough to bring a case where there is not going to be any insurance coverage; most attorneys do not want to be in the collection business against an individual.

Perhaps the easiest way to at least get the bills paid is to contact the prosecutor. often times a condition of plea or even sentencing can be compensating the victim of the crime. This will not get you pain and suffering damages, but at least is a way to address out of pocket expenses.

Best wishes.

If the game was being staged under the umbrella or control of some organization or business the organization or business is responsible for the game being played under safe conditions and is subject to a lawsuit. I need to know more. I might

be willing to take the case.

Call me if you like.
