Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Auto accidents; I need a new lawyer!!!!

I had 2 car accidents, and my child(over 18) had 1. I had surgery on my knee. I'm still waiting to have surgery on my other knee and both shoulders. I also have some other medical problems from these accidents. I have nerve & muscle damage (positive EMG), herniated & bulging disks, severe head pain(positive EEG) and one Dr said I have RSD. My child was not injured as much as I was thanks to his young age . He hurt his back, shoulder, neck, and head in his seperate accident. He still needs a few more Mri's, but so far the thorasic showed some damage. Since our lawyer did nothing to help us, we are now looking for a new attorney. One case is 3 1/2 yrs old, one is 2 yrs, the other is a yr. I called 2 lawyers from the yellow pages, but they want to look at our files before committing to our cases. The problem is, the old attorney refuses to give us our files. So I turned to this site in hopes of finding an attorney to take our cases and get our files for us. I'm in severe pain and my injuries are getting worse since I've been waiting to have the rest of my surgeries ordered from the Orthopedic Surgeon. I'm hoping to find a lawyer somewhat local. Due to my disabilities it is difficult to drive long distances. Thank you for your time.

What are the current status of each of the cases? Have they been filed? There are statute of limitations that could potentially bar any recovery.

You have the right to an attorney of your choice. Your attorney cannot withhold the file from you if you discharge him as your lawyer.
