Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Defendent Description

I work at a Property Management Company who is managing a certain Condominium Association that has been issued a subpeona for a slip & fall due to negligence on the part of ''ABC Maintenance, Def Contractor, & John Doe 1-10.'' Are these all generalized defendent descriptions?

Re: Defendent Description

Those are called "Doe" pleadings and they are meant to allow the attorney to add real names of real people if they learn later someone other than who is named is at fault.

Make sure to trun the complaint over to your insurance carrier as soon as possible. Additionally, while you may not believe it is your fault, it is important that you cooperate with your carrier but also demand that they take all steps to protect you including settling the calim. You do not benefit if they save money and if the case is settled within the policy limit, you are protected. Good luck.
