Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Fall in a house resulting in broken arm and leg

I was working for a real estate firm and another realtor called at the last minute asking me to do an open house for him. I agreed. Went to the house, fell and broke my arm and leg resulting in over $6000 or more worth of medical bills. I called an attorney and told her I just wanted the home owners insurance to cover the medical bills. She got greedy and tried to sue him with a civil suit. Now the entire thing has been dismissed. At the time of the derogatory I couldn't remember what kind of floor the foyer was. Later I remembered it was laminate and it had white carpeting. I believe the cleaners sprayed the laminate with something to clean it and made it extraordinarily slippery. Either way, I was not out to take the man's money, I thought that is what homeowners insurance was for. I just want my medical bills paid. The orthopedic doctor would not take the titanium bars out of my arm unless I paid the bill in full as I had no insurance. I had just started real estate and hadn't made an income yet. I just want the homeowners insurance to reimburse me. My savings was depleted! Is there anything that I can do?
