If you give someone a crib, and they accept it and use it, can they sue you if the baby gets

hurt from using the crib

Yes. Whether she can win will depend upon the evidence. The fact that it was a gift does not insulate you from liability, but it doesn't create liability either. Without knowing why your friend thinks you are liable, I can't begin to assess her chances.
