Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

receiving settlement

I was in a car accident in 2006 and just had my depostion in December.

The accident was not my fault and wasn't a complicated case. How long after deposition does it usually take to receive the settlement payment. I told my lawyer I don't want to og to court and I don't anticipate having to do so.

Re: receiving settlement

There are no guarantees in litigation and no one can assure you a settlement. Depending on the insurance company you are dealing with you may need to have this case tried even if the other side is entirely at fault.

Your case could also be dismissed if your damages are not severe enough.

You are not out of the water yet. You have to survive summary judgement and you may have to have this case tried.

You should talk to ur lawyer and be prepared for everything.
