Re: Reported Defects in 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

You are correct in your assessment that you will need to determine if there was a defect in the vehicle that caused the accident. This would require the hiring of an expert who would analyze the situation and ultimately issue a report if he/she finds that there was indeed a defect. Most attorneys would want this opinion before beginning a law suit. Also, you would probably be required to pay for the cost of the expert in advance before the opinion was given. Assuming you get an opinion that there was a defect, you would then be able to retain the attorney on a contingent fee basis, which means that the attorney would only be paid if he/she was able to recover money from a settlement or court verdict. You should immediately seek the advice of an attorney. If you want me to assist you, call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
