Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Is this slander and what can I do?

My husbabds exwife has said this in legal court documents:

Most importantly, one of the reasons that parenting time was cut back is due to the fact that the defendant insists on exposing our son to his current wife '' '' who was a stripper. In fact, Article IV, 4.3 of the property settlement agreement clearly provides the same.

I was never a stripper nor do I plan on being a stripper. Is their anything legally that I can do to end this? This has been said by her for the last 7 years I have been with my husband. She also tells her son that daddy left her to be with a whore! People are now saying that I am a whore ect.

Re: Is this slander and what can I do?

It is slander per se to disparage the character of a woman, at least that was the law. I suspect her only defense would be proof that you were a whore (and how can she do that). At the very least you should be able to get an injunction against her with the court ordering her to stop making such statements (who is going to believe a bitter ex-wife), or possibly sanctions for making false statements in official pleadings. If she continues to make such statements, the court could then fine her or even imprision her to 'encourage' her to stop being a bitter bit_h.

Courts do not like these cases. They feel they are a waste of time, but if the woman is really telling everyone you are/were a stripper and a whore, or people start making comments to you or others that they believe you are low class because they believe you are/were a stripper, then you may have a case and a need to do something.

TRY to consider the source. Try to diffuse the situation - think! Act complimented to think others think you have the body to be a stripper. Tell others she is just a bitter and jealous woman who can't move on with her life (expecially if you are more attractive). Make her look petty. I find if people think something does NOT bother you, they stop doing it because it does not have the effect they want it to have, which is to upset you and your husband.

Remember, "the best revenge is living well and being happy."
