Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey
Slip and Fall at work
Hi, I fell at work in the pantry room where a cleaning lady was washing floors in the afternoon, the busiest time when people get their coffee. There were no signs that the floor was wet. Fortunately I did not break anything but I got really bad muscle strains on my lower back and hands. Do I have any rights? Can I file a suit? And if the answer is 'yes', is it against the cleaning company or is the agianst the company I work for? Thank you very much

Re: Slip and Fall at work
If there is a separate company that perfomed the floor washing, then you may have a claim both against that company [called a 3rd party claim] and a worker's compensation claim agaisnt your employer as you were hurt at work. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to call me at 973-635-5400. You can learn more about my law firm by visiting our web site at http://www.njatty.com. Thank you.
Re: Slip and Fall at work
If the cleaning woman was employed by your same employer, i.e., you both work for ABC Company, then you have no claim other than a worker's comp claim. If she was employed by someone else, you have both a "third party" claim and a comp claim. Remember, in addition to comp paying you temporary disability (if you are out of work for more than a week) and your medical bills, you are entitled to a "permanency award".
Please call me to discuss these issues.

Re: Slip and Fall at work
You have both a claim against your employer through the NJ Department of Labor/Workers Compensation and against the company responsible for cleaning (unless it is your employer's company) Please call me @ 856-310-0500 if you wish to discuss this matter further or to make an appointment for a free consultation.
