Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey
venue - why two different
sirs, why does my wife have her court trial etc in New Jersey and mine was in Maryland. Facts: we were both in same vehicle, she was driver, I was passenger. Two different attorneys, but I was forced to go to Maryland and she stayed in New Jersey. Neither attorneys ''will'' address the question when poised to them...we ask...they avoid. I can understand different representations but locations we don't, esecially when I have been involved in two other accidents and the venue was where accident took place. This accident took place in Maryland.

Re: venue - why two different
Venue depends on a number of things. In NJ for example, if the defendant lived in NJ or if the accident occurred in NJ, the claim may be brought in NJ. Another words, the court must have jurisdiction over the defendant. The only way to get it is for the defendant to reside in that particular state or for the acccident ot occur in that state.
