Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey
My wife fell on black ice at a local mall who did not place salt down in there parking lot. She fell hurt her knee, and pulled a muscle in her leg. The mall security refused to write an incident report. We plan on going to the urgent care clinic close to our home to get her checked out. Is the mall liable for not putting salt down?

Hello,
I trust your wife was shopping at one of the stores in the mall. The owner of the Mall has a duty to keep the parking lot safe for business invitees, such as your wife. Black ice is a very dangerous condition, and if reasonably foreseeable on the date of your wife's fall, there was a duty to take the appropriate action to guard against this danger.
I hope your wife's knee injury resolves over the next few days. If not, my partner and I would be happy to discuss a case for you and your wife. Good luck.
