Information provided is incomplete. I am presuming you are asking about rights one acquires by adverse possession. An adverse possession claim is governed by N.J.S.A. 2A:14-30, which requires 30 years of "actual possession" for real estate that is not "woodlands or uncultivated" in order to "vest a full and complete right and title" in the adverse possessor.
