Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
affadavit to show I am known by two names
I use two first names (one surname). My driver's license says one, my bank account in the other. My passport in one, the deed on home/mortgage note in the other. I would like to continue using both names, ie I do not want to legally change my name. Is there an affadavit or legal document I can produce that would protect me , or my heirs from having trouble accessing any of my assets. What would be the most effective way to handle this situation? I just want a viable, legal, irrefutable proof that I am ''Jane Doe'' and ''Julie Doe''. Thank you.

Re: affadavit to show I am known by two names
This is really quite simple, and, in part, should have been covered by your mortgage. A simple affidavit indicating that you are known by both names, Jane Doe and Julie Doe. As part of your mortgage, you might have already given the mortgage company this type of affidavit. I can assist you if needed. I also suggest that any important documents, like your Will, a Health Directive if you have one, and any similar type of documents indicate that you are Jane Doe, also known as Julie Doe. The documents can be signed using your predominant name (the one on your driver's license, passport, tax returns) unless you use them interchangeably, but should reference that you are also known by the second name.
