Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
Is there any immediate assistance available to stop the process of foreclosure? I received a notic of default, and I spoke to a housing counselor intake processor today from my local urban league, but the process takes up to 30 days to be assigned to an actual counselor. I feel 30 days will be too long, and I prefer not to initiate bankruptcy proceedings/filing

You can try to do a mortgage modification with your mortgage company. If that doesn't work you can file Chapter 13 Bankruptcy which would allow you to retain the home and catch up over a 60 month period on your arrears.
Filing for bankruptcy would stop any collection calls, lawsuits or threatening letters that you may be receiving from your creditors.
If you intend to file for Bankruptcy protection in the near future, you can stop making your monthly credit card payments, if you have not already done so. Once we meet and you decide to retain our office to represent you, you may refer any creditors to us when they call you about the debt.
If you would like a free consultation, please call me at 215-639-5297 and we can review your total debt, income and monthly expenses and then I could advise you for which type of Bankruptcy you may qualify to file.
If you wish to meet in person, we have offices in Pennsylvania located in Bucks, Philadelphia, Montgomery and Lehigh Counties. Our New Jersey offices are located in Hamilton and Mount Holly. You will find that our fees are very reasonable and payment plans can be arranged.
