Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

We currently have a contract to buy a home with a contiguency giving us 90 days to sell our existing home. We recently got it under contract and wrote an addendum to finish the deal. The sellers of the house are now trying to back out of the deal all together. Can they do this? They are in attorney review for the addendum, but doesnt the existing contract still stand?

I am not sure why an addendum would have been necessary to "finish the deal" but my intuition is that the original contract would stand on its own. A disapproval of the addendum during attorney review would not cause the entire contract to be cancelled. If you want me to look over the contract and the addendum to give a more informed opinion, you can email or fax those documents to me. My firm handles matters of this type. If I can be of further help to you, call or email. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
