Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Easement on property

Neighbor on my backside wants easement on my property (house) to connect his sewer line to the city sewer line. This will damage my lawn, sprinkler and fence. I want to be a good neighbor. Should I grant him the easement? What consequences will I face if I have to sell my house with this easement. Do I have to see the lawyer? Do I have to ask money for easement and how much?

Re: Easement on property

The granting of the easement is up to you, as well as the terms and conditions, what, if anything, you will charge, and what costs you will recover (damages, attorney's fees, repairs, etc.). I do not recommend it without consulting an attorney to assist you. Once granted, this becomes part of your title and will be disclosed to future buyers.
