easements

I bought a house 20 years ago,and on the garage they build a kitchen without permits .The town wants me to tear down the kitchen and put the garage back in,it was over 20 years ago,is there a statue of limitations for that?

Has the town assessed your property in the last 20 years? Did they assess the value with the kitchen? These answers would be relevant to your situation. You may have to file an application with the Board of Adjustment for a variance and you may have to then put the kitchen up to code in order to keep it. You should review all of this with an attorny.
