Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
Foxton
I am currently contracted with Foxtons real estate for the sale of my home. 1) Since teh closed there doors, does that mean that I am out of the contract
2)Can I sue them for negligence since they have not informed me of the status of my listing?

If they do not perfom under their contract, you should be able to cancel it. You should see a lawyer to review the contract and write them a letter of cancellation. As to suing them, it would probably be useless since they are expected to file bankruptcy. Mention Guru and the first half hour is free.
Re: Foxton
There are a couple of smart ways to deal with this, to get OUT from any possible claim by Foxtons. They may be filing bankruptcy, they may be 'transferring' their listings, they may be....who knows?
A smart lawyer can think of a couple of ways to cleanly and immediately terminate the listing contract.
