Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Fraud at home!

My youngest daughter was sharing a house with a roomate who receives aid from an abuse case through Daisies. The roomate has forged at least one check from my daughter's checking account and maybe many more. The investigation will begin today. She has moved home from that shared apartment over the weekend. She cannot live in the house with this roomate. And, the roomate may go to jail. What happens with the lease? Can she give notice to the landlord now, just with the Police report or must she wait til court? What would the best option be for her?

Re: Fraud at home!

You must inform the landlord, particulalrly if your daughter is on the lease. She must get approval from the landlord to be relieved from any rental responsibility, if she is a party to the lease.
