Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

I was about to give my son and his friends a ride in my minivan. One of the friends manually shut close the power sliding door of the minivan and got stuck and will not open. The friend is 18 years old and lives with his parents. Is my son's friend and/or his parents responsible for the cost of the repair to my minivan?
