Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Home Buyers rights

I am in the process of purchasing a home, for which I have already made deposits and aquired a mortgage loan. Our original date of closing was 6/28/2000, then my lawyer was adivised that the seller needed an additonal 2 weeks to close for which I had no problem with. Now it is 7/7/2000 I have been unable to obtain a firm closing date and my lawyer (which I feel is wrongly representing me)advised me yesterday that now the sellers attorney has advised of a "tentative" date of 7/26. Is there anything I can do to speed up this process of is there any type of monetary compenstion that I should be entitled to for all this delay?

hi - i would like to see the contract of sale before giving you any meaningful advice. if you aren't happy w/your lawyer, though - you should either talk it over w/her or him, or decide to go w/someone else. at any rate, feel free to call me at 609 263-0089 if you have any other questions. good luck !!

Re: Home Buyers rights

Send a written letter to your attorney demanding that he make time of the essence and that he should call you no later than 3 days from when you mail the letter to acknowledge your request and his willingness to comply and that if he fails to call you his services will be deemed terminated. Immediately notify the sellers attorney that you are securing alternative counsel and do so that day. Your rights are not being properly represented. If you are in northern NJ I will assist you.
