Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

home sale

My son purchased a mother-daughter home in 2000 and was inspected and ok given by the town.Now he wants to sell is being told there's an illegal apt. and wants the kitchen and bath ripped out.He bought this house like this and has bids but can't sell until he complies with the town.Can he take some kind of legal action?

I know some of the West Paterson building and zoning people. They can be....a difficult bunch, sometimes. Not bad folks, just difficult.

Your son needs to have a lawyer (a different lawyer from the one who bought the house for him) take a look at this and see what can be done.

I would not even want to guess at what happened without taking a careful look at all the Boro records and the documents.
