Homeownership Bordentown, NJ

Is it legal to in the state of NJ, Bordentown, NJ (Burlington Cty) to have someone ( a family member) occupy a basement as a bedroom? If not what code does this violate?

You will need to refer to the local ordinances to answer this question.

The building code adopted by most jurisdictions specifies that sleeping areas have to have two means of egress that are accessible. That leaves out most basements with small, high windows unless there is also a separate exit door to the outside.
