Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Inacurate Inventory before Uhaul Auction.

I need some help because I could not pay the self storage rental fee on time. My buiness and

and household goods were sold in an auction last month

in New Jersey.

Based on an inaccurate inventory the auction yielded

only $500. Before the auction, I contested the

inventory by sending a registred mail to the Uhaul

manager because none of the expensive items

(University degrees, leather living room set,

computers, electronics, new expensive

mattress...etc)were namely listed in the inventory

even though Uhaul charges me $50 US inventory fee.

When I phoned the Uhaul manager, he replied that they

don't open boxes they just auction them. But my

leather sofa is not in any box. I am planning to hire

a lawyer. What are my rights? I require a fair

auction.

What are the right of the person whose goods have been

sold in an auction when the inventory is note correct? I suspect some wrongdoing like stealing or faulty inventory.

Do you know of any lawyer that could handle well this case against Uhaul?

Re: Inacurate Inventory before Uhaul Auction.

There are specific laws that the storage company must follow before they auction off your belongings, i.e. publish your inventory in a newspaper, etc. If they have violated the law, then you may have a case against them. I cannot tell from the facts you set forth whether or not they violated the law. I would be glad to speak with you further about your case. You can reach me at 973-659-3400.
