Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Joint Ownership

I am single involved in a relationship with a single man. We agreed to buy property together. We both signed a notarized agreement of sale for the property. My friend asked if just his name could go on the deed and my name would be added later. Now he says the property is his and I have no legal right to half. Do I have any recourse? I thought I would put a lien against the property to recoup my investment. I have receipts for what I put into the property.
