land dispute

a fence is on my property it shows on my deed that it on my property the land next to me has been sold and the builder did a new survey and says the fence is on his property and wants me to remove it. what do i say to him and what are my legal rights.

I agree with John, that both your title company and surveyor should be contacted. I had a similar problem a few years ago, and it turned out that the original survey was incorrect. The title company and the surveyor then had to pay to relocate the fence.

Contact your title insurance company and your surveyor. They should make a good start on the problem and that is why you paid them in the first place.

If you still have a problem or if anyone wants you to sign any agreements, contact a lawyer.
