Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Mislead in a property purchase

I purchased a home with the assumption that the whole backyard was mine however, during some renovation project I found out only half is mine. However, I was never made aware of this from the lawyer nor sellers or realtor. Now I have less property then what I was lead to believe was mine. Do I have any legal actions I can take.

Assumptions are a killer. You may want to have a lawyer look at your survey, deed, and title insurance policy to see what they tell. It would also be interesting if any statements were made to you about the backyard and how you formed the impression that it was all yours.

My firm handles matters of this type. If I can be of further help to you, call or email.
