Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

mortgage responsability

My father purchased a home many years ago, my sister, myself and my parents all signed the mortgage and were listed on the deed. A few months ago my sister and I signed off to be removed from the deed. Do I still have legal obligations to the mortgage company if my parents default on payments?

Re: mortgage responsability

Did the mortgage company agree to release you from your promise to pay them? NO, of course not.

Go see a lawyer. You have a little mess here, and it needs fixing.

Call me if I can help you.

Re: mortgage responsability

Yes.

As long as you have not been released from the mortgage note you are still personally responsible for the loan.

Did anyone consult an attorney before the sign off on the deed?

Good luck to you.
