Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Neighbors interfering lost the sale of our house

We found a buyer for our house, they signed a contract. The day after they signed the contract they came back to see the house with about 10 family members. They loved the house but as they were leaving our neighbor was very rude to them because they doubled parked ( the reason for double parking was to bring the car as close as possible to the door so the father of the buyer who was a sick man and walked slowly with a oxygen tank did not have to walk too far.)

They backed out of the contract, I don't blame them.

Do I have case against my neighbor?

Thanks

Thanks

Re: Neighbors interfering lost the sale of our house

You might have a claim for interference with the contract. You can raise the claim, but you also have the obligation to mitigate your damages - that is, try to resell the house. If you get the same or higher sales price, you may not have a claim, although you could try to claim lost income if the closing date is further away than the original one (you lost the income-producing capacity of the sales proceeds for the time differental).
