Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
I got a notice from my property manager (I own a townhouse) saying that the flashing on a common wall is lifted and I have less than thirty days to repair it. The flashing is lifted on my neighbor's roof not on my side, and I would have to hire someone to go on her roof to fix it. My howmeowner's insurance does not cover someone on her roof. Also the problem was caused when the previous owner of her house fixed his roof and never put the flashing back on right. How can this be right and what can I do? Shouldn't the notice have been sent to my neighbor and not to me? What action can I take? She does not seem to notice any responsibility on her part even though I mentioned that shared problems should be remedied by both parties.
