Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Want to offer services to people selling their homes

I am not a real estate agent/broker. I am interested in helping busy homeowners show their house for sale while they are at work. I only want to show the houses not be involved in any paperwork at all. I am looking at this more as just a service for busy professionals who are privately selling their home and don't have a lot of time to show potential buyers around. Is this legal to do without a real estate license?

Re: Want to offer services to people selling their homes

As long as you do not discuss terms of sale or anything involving the sale, and are just showing the house, this should be OK. I presume you are just being paid for your time, regardless of whether or not the people you show the house to make an offer or not.

So long as you are not bringing buyers to the house, but just showing the house for the Seller, you should be okay. You are acting as the "manager" of the property. If you do not discuss terms, but just facilitate the showing of the house it should work. Any questions or contracts to review, please contact our office. Good luck with it.
