Re: Two people on a lease

Are you the landlord, or the other tenant?

Most leases have language that says that if more than one person has signed, each of them is fully responsible for the lease obligations. The landlord would have the right to enforce the lease against the remaining tenant. The landlord also has the right to go after the tenant who left, but why would the landlord incur that expense and trouble if someone is still around?

The tenant may try to locate the person who left, but unless there was a written agreement between them, may not have many rights against the person who "skipped".
