Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

I was just given power of attorney for a home. My grandparents home. My Aunt has been living there for free for the past fifteen years and needs to go. What do I need to do to remove her legaly? Her name has never been on the deed. The other question is that she has renovated the house with her money and I was wondering if that has an affect on the situation? Thanks.

If you want to evict someone from real property that is not your own, you will need to hire a lawyer. Only landlords who hold in their own name or as partners in a general partnership can pursue actions for possession in landlord/tenant court. You may not lock you aunt out or engage in any form of self-help eviction. So, since resort must be had to the courts anyway, ask the other questions of the lawyer who will bring your case to L/T court. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
