Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Property that is in a family member's home

Hello. I am 28 years old and live in my own apartment. In 1998, I was married and because of limited space, I put all the wedding and bridal shower gifts in my parents' attic. I am no longer married, but still live in an apartment with limited space. The gifts remain at my parents' home. However, due to some disagreements, my parents and I are no longer on speaking terms. My question is...if I contact them to get my belongings and they are uncooperative, what are my rights and how can I go about getting these objects?

Thank you for your time.

You may need to file suit against them in Order to get a Court Order requiring them to turn over the items. It seems to me, however, that you should try to amicably resolve whatever issue pulled you apart. This seems more important than "things" to me. Perhaps some joint counseling or a meeting with your religious leader (if you have one) would help. Good luck. Rob Gleaner
