Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
Renter's Rights
Hello,
I rent an apartment ill and my neighbors upstairs fight excessively, to the point where I believe the man is beating his wife. Last night I called the police, after they left the neighbor came and banged on my door and we got into an argumnet about the fact that I called. When he left I called the landlord and explained that I had to call the police, this is an ongoing problem, etc. She called our neighbor and of course he said that he hears me too and never complains. Now she is threatening to serve us both with cure or quit notices. This is the first time I have ever called the police, called the landlord, other nieghbors have called the police on the same couple, and I have never had issues with any other neighbors. Still, I don't want to move (My son is in school) and I don't feel I should have to listen to abusive arguments for fear that I might get evicted. Do you have advise as to how to handle the situation?
Thanks,

if you are in northern NJ, call my secretary, make an appointment and come see me. you need some advice. nasty neighbor situations are all horrible, and need to be dealt with carefully.
