I can't think of any reason why you should be answerable for your tenant's forgery. If the check was for your account, it is you who has been injured. The broker's responsibility is to find a tenant who is ready, willing, and able to pay. It doesn't look like he did that.

Assuming you mean that the tenant counterfeited a cashier's check, you should report that to the bank on which the check was drawn and to the police. That is a crime and law enforcement authorities will be interested.

I totally agree with John, although your facts are skimpy, as you do not decribe what the check was for, to whom paid, etc.
