I'm being threaten to sign a 9 page lease or be evicted
I've rented from my LL for over 5 years. 3 years in my current apt. It had been a friendly oral agreement of m to m for 5 years. A few months back I had a dispute with my one of my roommates ( which happens to be the LL childhood best friend) 3 weeks ago I found a very unreasonable 9 page lease for my unrenovated apt. It called for no nail holes in the wall and carpet to cover 50% of the floor. I attempted to reason with my landlord on some of these issues as the current condition of the apt would be in vilotaion of the lease they left outside my door. My LL wants to enter my apt. and doc. the discretency ( holes etc). I would like a time to evaluate my option b/f allowing him in the apt. He been constantly harassing my about this and I want him to stop. I've asked about the status of my security deposit. ie what's the interest rate who's name is on the acct and where it is. he has given me no response to these question so how do i get one. how long can I avoid signing a lease? Thanks!

Unforunately, probably not very long. The landlord owns the place, and his/her rules will prevail.
A lease would protect you as well. I would have your lease evaluated by an attorney. Otherwise, I would find another place to live. Once a landlord becomes abusive, it's probably not going to get any better.
