Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Transfer property in another state

My grandmother owned two pieces of land in NJ and we live in PA. She left the property to my mother but my mother died one year later and never put the property into her name. My mothers estate was left to me and the property is still in my grandmother's name and she passed away in 1994. What do I need to do to get the property into my name?

Re: Transfer property in another state

It should not be all the hard to get this fixed. I am not able to tell (and you probably do not know) whether there was a probate of your grandmother's estate or not. You will either need to do a probate of your grandmother's estate, or a deed, and your may need to take some action in your mother's estate.

YOu will need a lawyer to look at the documents (wills, probate documents and deeds) and then give you some guidance.

I am in northern NJ. If your grandmother's property is near me, I would be able to assist you. Call if you like.
