Unfair assessment practice

Recently purchased single family home. HVAC system was approx 30 years old. We had entire system, including central air, replaced. Municipality now wants to increase assesment because they had no record of central air in home. After so many years of being installed (probably since home was new) I would think the central air would be grandfathered?

It's possible that the old system was grandfathered. But, you just put in a new system, so maybe are not entitled to have it grandfathered.

The bottom line is you feel your tax assessment is wrong, you need to get an attorney immediately and challenge the assessment in accordance with applicable law.
