Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

Incorrect birthdate in SSA records

About 15 years ago in a stupid attempt to start a fresh credit history, I applied for and received a new social security number in a new name with a different year of birth. Since then, I have legally changed my name to the new name but have continued working with the new SS#. I would like to simply correct the birth year to my real one with the new SS# but am concerned because I have filed taxes using the incorrect birth date. What do I need to do in order to avoid any problems with the Social Security offices?

Re: Incorrect birthdate in SSA records

I do not understand how you legally obtained a new SS number. Did you obtain a new Birth Certificate too?

I can't advise you how to continue falsifying your records. I suggest that you contact Social Security (and maybe the IRS) and explain to them what you have stated here.
