social security disability benefits and family inheritance

Can a person continue to

receive social security

disability benefits if they

receive inheritance money?

How can they keep both? Is

there a limit?

If you worked and paid FICA (or the Social Security tax) you have earned coverage for disability insurance. If you are receiving a disability benefit, your other income and assets are not an issue. Disability is paid to you based on what you paid into the system. You should cntinue to get your disabillity benefit.

But if you did not work and pay into the system and are receiving SSI because you are disabled, other assets and income will effect your monthly benefit. SSI is a needs-based welfare program.
