Legal Question in Tax Law in New Jersey

Audit?

For 2002 and 2003 the IRS requesting documentation on information provided on our tax returns. We have provided all the necessary information and the IRS still insists that it is not enough. What is funny about this situation is that my sister in law has also been contacted by the IRS for documentation of her taxes. We suspect that the IRS is really interested in the preparer. What else can I do? Everything on my forms is legit and we have ALL the receipts and documentation. We have sent everything via regular mail, certified mail and fax. HELP!

Re: Audit?

If you have provided full documentation of all entries in your return this should complete the matter. I suggest talkking with a Supervisor in the office you have been dealing with to ascertain what they still consider open. If you have provided all they asked for, the matter should be closed. If they do not respond, you can request that they issue a notice setting forth their claim. You can then issue a Protest if you do not agree with their notice. If you desire, you can retain an attorney to assist you.
